Classy Bathroom Vanity Design
Modern Vanity Design
It used to be that when you were considering bathroom remodeling in Cupertino you had very minimal choices, especially when it came to things like vanities, flooring and tile/paint for the walls. These days though, you literally have so many choices that you could travel the world and never see your combination in any other bathroom... EVER. Nowadays you have a lot of choices ahead of you. If you have already picked out your flooring, tile or paint and you are really just stuck on bathroom vanities; what colors to use, wood or some other material, sizes, shapes, etc. keep reading below where you will find some of the best classy and elegant designs for bathroom vanities. Not only that, but a few ideas on how to essentially build your bathroom around your vanity or the best way to set it up/where to set it up to get the most from your bathroom.
Rustic Wood Vanities
There are some really good handmade products out there these days and they can be made to LOOK however you want them to look i.e.; brand new, worn and antiqued, rustic, etc. One company that I know of called Fox Den Decor creates pieces specifically for the bathroom. These vanities come in all sorts of shapes, styles and colors, but they all have one thing in common; materials used. All of the vanities found in their rustic collection are all made from wood, among other materials like glass and metal. If you are looking for a really classy or elegant look this is the way to go. Most of the pieces are pretty big though, so consider the size of the bathroom versus the amount of space you have for the vanity.
Free Floating Vanities
These types of vanities are exactly how they sound. They do not have a base to them; they look like they are free floating in the air. But they are not! This is something that I suggest not doing yourself, especially if your sinks tend to weigh a lot. Instead, think about hiring a company that offers bathroom remodeling. They can install braces underneath the sinks or the vanities that hold them up against the wall and essentially anchor them to the wall. These come in two different options really; option one is just sinks. No bottom, no vanity, no cabinets. This might be good for people that have storage space elsewhere in the bathroom for things like shampoo, conditioner, soap, toiletries, etc. On the other hand you can choose the sink and vanity option - still free floating, but they give you the ability to place toiletries in the cabinets if you don’t have space anywhere else in the bathroom.
His and Her's Bathroom Vanity
His and her's bathroom vanities aren’t anything new, but these days the styles and designs are newer and much more functional than they used to be, plus there are some pretty stunning options available. One idea is a custom vanity and countertop. The vanity itself in this case would be a nice strong wood - I like Alder. One of the better ways to present alder is by staining it. Consider adding a mixture of two different products such as coffee and walnut to really get a stunning color out of the vanity. Or if you are lucky enough perhaps you will find a stain that can be bought as is in the color you want. The vanity has enough pull out drawers and pull down drawers to make both he and she happy and more importantly, both sides of the vanity have a larger pull down drawer which is where a laundry basket can be kept and dirty laundry can be collected - out of sight! Consider adding silver rather than gold hardware to your bathroom along with a creamy ivory white countertop made from a natural stone like slate gray or marble.
Reclaimed Wood
The only thing better than handmade custom wood vanities, are reclaimed vanities. These are essentially pieces that may have been used for something else in the past that you will turn into a vanity for your bathroom. It can be an old dresser, desk, bar front or anything else for that matter. Wood crafters that make these pieces from hand take a lot of time and put a lot of work and pride into them. Try looking for pieces over 40 years old to really get the elegant look you want. You will most likely have to put some elbow grease into these pieces to make them look new again - even go as far as putting on new knobs, hardware and stripping down old ruined paint. But these are pieces that can look amazing once you are done tidying them up. Consider looking on classified ad sites, garage sales and also take a look at your local antique stores for some wood pieces for the bathroom.
